Blog Day 12: Saturday 04 April 2020

Last night's Zoom trivia quiz was a great success, although modesty prevents me from saying too much as to who the winner was.  You won't be surprised to hear that some of the questions and answers were the subject of some controversy, particularly a dispute about whether Australia has the world's deadliest snakes or the world's most venomous snakes.  How exciting I hear you say.

As winner of last night's quiz (oops I wasn't going to mention that) I have been charged with preparing the questions for next weeks quiz.

Just thinking, this time last year I was in Sarajevo experiencing all the delights that the Balkan city had to offer.  Who would have thought that in 12 months time we wouldnt be allowed to go out our front door let alone travel half way around the world to such exotic locations.

Coolish, wet and overcast here today so not much temptation to go outdoors.  If the weather improves I still might go for a walk, observing the appropriate precautions and conventions of course.

I obtained some hand sanitiser from the local Priceline pharmacy yesterday it is their own connoction and is basically 70% alcohol, probably go OK with dry ginger if the going gets really tough (and desperate).

A bit of excitement here this arvo.  My side neighbour and his son came over to my place to cut down a large tree branch that was growing from their tree across our side fence and then over my back fence towards the units behind me.  So that filled in a half an hour or so.

  1. I feel as though there needs to be some effort put in to eliminate the possibility of more than one correct answer (Bearbrass?) or ambiguous questions(Deadly). Although I have no doubt you 'll just give us a bunch of obscure military history questions anyway...

Interesting I went back to your day one blog post - at that stage it was only 377,926 cases and 16,488 deaths globally. I guess all those people who thought this was just an overblown flu might be rethinking it now.

    1. I agree Andrew and that was one of the reasons I have included those stats in the blog, just in case we need reminding.

  2. Yes Andrew. But it doesn't stop stupid backpackers ignoring many rukes. Send them all home. NOW

    1. You only want them sent home because they are no longer allowed to sunbathe around the lagoon.

  3. I may not be good at trivia but I was good at “family ZOOM”

    1. The original Zoom I can recall was a fairly dangerous drinking game at which I was not very good at. One of the rules I remember (just), was that you couldn't "zoom the zoomer", what ever that meant. Now they were fun times!
