Blog Day 18: Friday 10 April 2020

(also known as Good Friday)

Well if was supposed to have been 23 degrees and clear today, at 12.15pm it is about 19 overcast and raining.  Hopefully if it clears up a bit I will get to go on my corona virus approved walk.

I see that Pell travelled from Melbourne to Sydney by car on Thursday, I wonder what category of essential travel that comes under. Suggestions anyone?

I have some contributions from some of my readers today.  Last night Leanne sent me a SMS telling me that Finland has closed its borders, I asked "what does that mean"? and she responded "nobody will be crossing the Finnish line", which is pretty funny.

And Andrew sent me a link to a government site that is publishing the various stats about the corona virus, provided for your info below;

I have just received a message from Jo telling me that the local Mexican restaurant (Good Times Milk Bar) is open for business for pick up and delivery.  The Cobb Lane Doughnuts are particularly tempting!

I have had a resupply of my reading material, so far this week I have received in the mail the RACV magazine, the Sporting Shooters magazine and the Australian War Memorial (AWM) magazine, Wartime.  Plenty of good "little" room reading there.  But seriously folk, the AWM magazine is particularly good, it is published quarterly and is included in my Friend of the Memorial subscription.

I see that my old home town of Burnie in Tasmania is the centre of the corona virus outbreak in that state.  There is some talk of isolating the whole town.  If the people in isolation in 5 star hotels in Melbourne and Sydney reckon they are doing it hard, send them to Burnie for 2 weeks and see how they go.  And a big hello to my sister and niece who live in Burnie, be careful and take care.

And to the rest of you - be careful and take care.

Current Virus Stats Day 95

Aus: 6,181 infected (+92 from previous day) - 53 deaths (increase of 2) Recovered 1,472

  1. Talking about complete lockdown here but you would say that that had happened years ago. Google has just informed me that my highlights of the last 3 weeks of travel is South Burnie (some stuff required from Burnnings), Upper Burnie (Woolworths) and Wivenhoe (IGA/Post Office, butcher and bakery).

    1. So you would have gone somewhere more exciting before the lockdown?

    2. Yep, might have gone all the way into CBD. Will be a big night tonight though, takeaway Fishermans Special pizza.
      Seriously though it is starting to look a bit scary here.
