Blog Day 22: Tuesday 14 April 2020
One of my regular readers has recommended the Country music documentary that has been on SBS on Saturday nights over the previous few weeks. I have also been watching it and recommend it highly, it is by Ken Burns who might recall did that series on the American civil war some years ago. I am not sure if it is still on or not, if not it would probably be available on the SBS back up channel.
That same reader reminded me of the time that I appeared on stage at the Ryman Auditorium (the original home of the Grand Ol Opry) in Nashville Tennessee. So for all you country and western fans here is a photo of me on stage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Tennessee.
Eat your heart out Johnny Cash!
And now it is time for another in the popular occasional series of "What's in the pantry Graeme"?
I must admit that I didn't have this in my pantry but saw it in Woolies the other day and thought that it would be a good addition to my emergency rations. I don't think that I will need to worry about anbody stealing it. Use by date is sometime in 2023, so hopefully this current crisis doesn't exceed the use by date, or is it best by date.
For the foodies amongst you I am open to suggestions as to how I could prepare this particular taste sensation. Please be creative.
I have just heard Jacqi Lambie on the radio talking about the current virus crisis in her home town of Burnie Tasmania, she is an effing idiot and not very bright, I am just happy that she has nothing to do with the recovery efforts anywhere near me. As an update, the authorities have closed both the public and private hospitals in Burnie. Pretty much all staff and their families have been placed in strict quarantine, estimated at between 4,000 and 5,000 people, this is in a town of less than 20,000 people. I see Murphy is claiming this outbreak could have originated at an illegal dinner party of health care workers, although the guv is stating that this is only a rumour at this stage. If true this will make the Toorak/Portsea fracas look like a tea party by comparison.
Did the zoom thing yesterday with Leanne and Shaun with Evan, Luke and Georgia each contributing in their own unique way.
And finally for today I am introducing another occasional series called "Music for heart lifting". And I promise no German marching bands (well just not yet anyway).
This one will put a smile on your face and foot a tapping;

Keep listening to the music!

As there was a wide variance in the figures from the newspapers this morning I will repost the blog this arvo when the gov figures are available.
I would mix the corned mutton with lots of garlic and chilli, some panko crumbs and an egg, roll them into little balls and deep fry as something to enjoy with a Corona
ReplyDeletePleased to see that I am not the only one who thinks she is an idiot. When you see anything by her on facebook etc. you would be led to believe that everyone in Tassie think that she is the greatest. This is not so.
ReplyDeleteThe photo on tv you asked me about the other day of the two storey hospital I realise now was probably the Mersey hospital at Latrobe where all the Burnie patients were transferred to yesterday.
mmm... corned mutton. I'm thinking toast points with cornichons and dijon mustard. Looks like the corona virus has gone on holidays. Also I think coronas are on special at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWow! I didn't know you could play guitar!
ReplyDeleteGuitar, banjo, ukulele anything with strings basically.
DeleteThank you for the suggestions for my tinned corned mutton, I will let you all know how it goes.
