Blog Day 112: Monday 13 July 2020

DD has announced today that he has requested the Commonwealth provide Victoria with 1,000 ADF personnel to assist with testing, tracing, assisting police with road blocks etc.  The prevarication and backflips on this are remarkable and hard to understand.  If we were going to get ADF personnel anyway maybe sooner would have been better than later.

I am not sure but I think that DD has suggested that if things don't start to improve we may be looking at stage 4 restrictions, whatever that means.

It is of concern that of the new clusters in Victoria there are three in nursing homes.

The new infections reported in Victoria at 177 is lower than the past four or five days, however the authorities certainly aren't treating this as any sort of victory.  The next few days will be of interest particularly taking into account the level of testing occurring in the state.

Victoria has gone from 31 virus patients in hospital a week ago to 72 currently hospitalised.  The number of ICU patients has increased from 5 to 17 in the same period.

It looks like NSW maybe experiencing some problems arising out of large groups of people congregating at a pub recently.  Lets hope they can jump on it and not experience the problems that we have had in Victoria.

Both the worldwide infection and death figures are down on previous days although only time will tell if this is meaningful or not.

  1. The table is great. I have just one suggestion though, do you think you could out the text in the last few columns vertically instead of horizontal?
