Blog Day 114: Wednesday 15 July 2020
I have never been a great fan of Facebook or similar social media sites and in times of national safety and security issues it is the cause of more harm than good. Apparently yesterday the social media sites were rife with unsubstantiated rumours about Victoria being placed into a stage four lockdown. Today the social media rumour mill is running rife with rumours about the previous rumour being spread by DD's spinners as part of some grand conspiracy.
All this does is make people more anxious than necessary and possibly trigger panic buying where it is not necessary. I am not denying for a moment that we won't end up in stage four lockdown but lets handle it in a managed and controlled manner. Remember the old WW2 posters "Loose lips sink ships".
There was a police road block in East Boundary Rd yesterday afternoon. I didn't get close enough to it to see what they were doing but I assume they were checking the reasons people were travelling and where they were coming from and going to.
Now the bad news, even after my stern note to Blogger the table function has not been reinstated, so back to improvisation as necessary.
Three more deaths in Victoria taking the Victoria total to 27. Two hundred and thirty eight new infections in the state in the last 24 hours, although not the highest figures recorded still high enough to be of concern. Twenty seven thousand test conducted in the last twenty four hours in Victoria. Hospital numbers have gone from 31 on 7/7 to 105 on 15/7, it will be interesting to see where this figure ends up before it starts to decline and when it will start to decline.

New infections and deaths on a world wide basis are still not declining. Although some countries such as Spain, France and Italy, who you will recall had the initial large figures, have now declined to almost nothing but the new countries such as Brazil, Mexico and India have stepped up to the plate and taken their place. More detailed international figures and analysis will be published tomorrow. (Warning: it may be in the original spreadsheet format).

Remember to wash your hands, keep your distance and keep your mask on, sneeze into your elbow, and be kind. Couldn't imagine what it would be like in the crook of your elbow after a few days of sneezing into it, would be like a scene from the "Young Ones".
The Young Ones?
