Blog Day 115: Friday 17 July 2020

Anybody taking bets on when Victoria goes to stage four lockdown?

The figures are getting progressively worse on a day to day basis. Of the 428 new infections in Victoria 57 are from known sources, 1 is an overseas traveller in quarantine and 370 are under investigation.  The majority are of these cases still appear to be as a result of the quarantine hotels mismanagement, either due to people being able to walk out without being tested or by the security guards (and I use the term loosely) becoming infected, by various means, and taking the infection home with them.

It is of concern that there has been new infections in three aged care or nursing home facilities.  These facilities are being evacuated with residents being relocated some of them in hospitals.  Most hospitals are introducing strict restrictions on visits to any patients, not just corona virus patients.  Effectively this mean that you won't be able to visit a patient in hospital except in the most extenuating circumstances and even then isolation rules will apply.

Three new deaths in the last 24 hours, a man and woman in their 80's and a man in his 70's.  Our Chief Health Officer has warned that given the increasing number of infections the hospitalisation rate and death rates will continue to increase.

No good news in the worldwide figures either, both infection rates and death rates still increasing.  Might be cancelling next year's overseas trip as well.  I was thinking Phillip Island is looking good and then I realised I can't even travel there at the moment.

This blog application is the most frustrating program I have ever used.  It doesn't matter how the formatting appears on the input page or the preview page it turns out to be something entirely different when published.  Blogger in particular doesn't like tables.

Remember to wash your hands, keep your distance, keep your mask on, sneeze into your elbow (yuk), don't touch your face, press the traffic light button with your foot and be kind.
