Dreary, dull, grey day in Melbourne, maximum forecast temperature 13c.  If that doesn't cheer you up nothing will.

As we all know, 'one swallow doth not a summer make".  Although it would be nice to take some comfort from the daily infection increase figure reported today.  At 217 for Victoria that is the lowest figure for nearly a week and is nearly half of yesterday's figure.  We will need to see if this reduced number continues or improves before the danger of a level four lockdown is removed.

Of the 217 new infections, 11 are from known sources and 205 are under investigation.  Twenty eight thousand tests were conducted yesterday.

Unfortunately we recorded two more deaths in Victoria, a male and a female both in their eighties.

There is not much comfort in the daily world figures, still recording around the 250,000 mark each day.  The number of deaths doesn't give much comfort either, with 6,700 deaths reported yesterday, which is the highest for at least the last 12 days of my records.  Still wouldn't like to be living in Brazil, Mexico or parts of the US.
