Blog Day 129 - Friday 31 July 2020

As some businesses have "casual Friday" I am introducing "Corona Free Friday" to the blog.  Henceforth there will be no mention of the "C" word on a Friday.

To kick this off I have decided to amuse and entertain you with a poem I have written.  A couple of years ago I attended a creative writing course at Holmesglen TAFE and one of our assignments was to write a poem.  Most people wrote their poems in a very serious and deep and meaningful manner, but as you will see I kept mine light hearted and hopefully amusing. One of the attendees even wrote a poem praising Gough Whitlam, imagine the critique that got from me.

The Intruders

 Bang crash through the fence

Do not worry nor take offence

Bright eyes and dancing paws

I look up from my work and pause

Button noses against the pane

Come outside we want a game

Outside I go with a scowl

Naughty little dogs I growl

Back you go I say

Now they really start to play

Around the yard they run away

This is fun they seem to say

Running jumping weeing

Really they must stop peeing

This stuff will kill the grass

Oops, I am over on my arse

First one then two

Back o’er the fence not through

I fix the hole

With wood and poles

But they will escape again

So vigilant I must remain

Remember: be kind.

    1. All the great poets based their work on real life, old dogs, lost loves, roads well travelled. Or was that country and western music?
