Blog Day 172 - 13 September 2020

A guy walked into the doctor's surgery with a strawberry growing out of his forehead, the doctor looked up and said "I've got some cream for that".

I see that The Age is about to make a jump further to the left if that is at all possible.  The newly appointed editor of The Age is a journalist (use the term loosely) currently working at the Guardian Australia.  The GA is an online only green/left news site with a readership of 10.

And a second lefty news agency story.  The ABC has recently been running news stories about the one of the Williams sisters being bounced out of the US open.  The story is if she had won she would have equalled the record number of grand slam titles held by a female tennis player.  Of course the record is held by Margaret Court.  Somehow the ABC managed to do an entire story about this without mentioning Margaret Court's name once.  Go figure!

I bet that there will be some balanced reporting on the US election coming out of the two agencies mentioned above.

Today is the last day of our initial 6 week, stage 4, 2nd wave lockdown.  Tomorrow is the 1st day of our extended 2 week, stage 4, 2nd wave slightly relaxed lockdown.  If we are all good girls and boys we will move to step 2 on 28th September.

Victoria recorded 41 new infections in the last 24 hours and 7 deaths as a result of the corona virus.  The total number of deaths in Victoria is now 723.  There are 116 Victorians in hospital due to the virus with 11 in ICU and 5 on ventilators.

The all important rolling 14 day average for the last couple of days is as below;

And now the State of Disaster remembers;

Remember: Keep your sense of humour, don't give up, keep your aluminium foil hat on, please don't go to the beach, to stay indoors between 8.00pm and 5.00am, stay safe & stay strong, respect the 5km limits, don't try & get a haircut, drink your coffee at home, don't dither at the supermarket checkout, don't get Jim's Mowing in to cut your grass, get some virus approved exercise, shop at Harvey Norman for good service, be honest, if in doubt wear a mask and a face shield, remember the fallen, get plenty of sleep, laugh at my jokes, have a virtual beer with a Vietnam vet, if you have to ask - the answer is no, remain vigilant, act responsibly, apologise if you are wrong, use Zoom to keep in touch, put your bins out before curfew, don't smoke around your baby, keep your eye on the ball, watch the averages and be kind.

  1. This one is much better than yours.
    Did you know ants never get sick?
    It's because they have little anty bodies.

  2. Clearly it runs in the family. Your readers will be pleased to know that my brother made it back to Tas last night and must quarantine for 2 weeks at home. Checkpoint charlie at the airport was quite daunting by the sounds of it. Every check and balance except a cavity search was undertaken. Then, and this does surprise me, he walks out and catches the community bus home. Apparently only two taxis were operating. I would have thought a special transport would have been arranged (which they would have to pay for) but no, straight into community vehicles. Not sure what happened but Tas Gov't eased the entry restrictions of having to quarantine at the casino at a cost of $2800. Possibly the death threats might have had something to do with it.

    1. Was he disappointed that there was no cavity search? Anyway disappointment aside I reckon he would be glad to be home amongst the green rolling hills of Tassie.
