Blog Day 186 - 27 September 2020

Two men walked into a bar, you reckon the second one would have seen it.

Today is the last day of the two week extension our stage four lockdown.  All the figures are looking good and the the 14 day rolling average is well within the range to allow for a relaxation of the lockdown rules.

The premier has announced the changes to the lockdown restrictions.  As from tomorrow 127,000 permitted workers will be able to return to work, these workers will mainly be in supply and logistics and manufacturing.  Prep to grade 6 students and VCE & VCAL students will be back in the class room from 12/10.

The curfew will be lifted from 5.00am tomorrow however a new fine of $5,000 will be imposed on people attending any illegal indoor or outdoor activity.

The 5km limit from home will still apply although people can exercise 5km from their workplace if they are a permitted worker.

Up to 5 people from up to 2 households can meet outdoors to socialise.  I think that the 5km limit applies here that means I can only meet people within my 5km zone.  Although I can go outside the 5km zone for my single person bubble visit.

Future changes to the lockdown will be based on trigger points not on dates.  It is proposed that the next relaxation will occur on 19/10.

Still no barbershops opening, this is getting a bit desperate, lucky I keep my hat on when I go outdoors.

No changes to retail or hospitality as yet.

I am reporting this as the announcements are being made so hopefully there will be some clarification of these changes in due course.

Now for today's figures.  Victoria recorded 16 new virus infections in the last 24 hours and 2 more deaths, bringing the total number of deaths for Victoria to 784.  There are still 51 Victorians in hospital with the virus and 9 in ICU with 5 in ICU.

Rolling 14 day average;

26/09: Metro 23.6, Regional 0.8, Total 24.4
27/09: Metro 22.1, Regional 0.6, Total 22.7

And now the stage 4 lockdown 2 week extension remembers.

Remember: to follow the legal instructions of a police officer, not to get carried away with false optimism (again), if you are going to run a road block do it when it is raining, tell the truth, don't go to any protests, avoid the City of Casey, ring before you dig, especially if it is a $7 billion project, keep up the exercise - it is good for you, don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
