Blog Day 187 - 28 September 2020

A rabbit walked into a bar, unlike the rest of us it didn't have a hare out of place.

Today is day one of the second step out of the stage four corona virus lockdown.  Although the curfew has been removed and a timetable set for some students to return to school the big restrictions remain.  The current restrictions on general retail, barbers & hairdressers, hospitality and group gatherings will remain in place until at least 19 October.  Some fines for anti covid behaviour have increased and if you are naughty it could cost you nearly $5,000.

If you have a dog you can visit the dog groomer, but I can't get a haircut - go figure.

It is interesting that the labor government has learnt nothing out of the recent ministerial fiasco leading to the resignation of Ms Mikakos.  The resignation of Ms Mikakos has left a cabinet position open and already the factions are arguing about who should be appointed, the spectre of quotas has also been raised and various unions have been supporting their associated factions.  So far nobody has suggested that maybe the best person for the job should get the job.  How is that for a novel concept.

I generally try and maintain a positive attitude through all this, but by crikey some days it is harder than others.

All the same, despite the incompetent ministers running the state the daily corona virus figures continue to decline.  Today we have reported only 5 new infections, but to put this into perspective the entire rest of the country report nil new infections.  We reported 3 more deaths in the last 24 hours bringing the state total to 787 and the national virus death toll to 875.  The are currently 49 Victorians in hospital due to the virus with 8 in ICU and 4 on ventilators.

As below the rolling 14 day average is continuing to fall;

27/09: Metro 22.1, Regional 0.6, Total 22.7
28/09: Metro 20.3, Regional 0.6, Total 20.9

Worldwide the death toll has broken through the million figure with 3,700 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.  Neither the worldwide death toll or new infections are declining in any meaningful way.

  1. I can finally return to the blog. That bike race somewhere has finished and I have recovered from the suggestion as to who should run the state for two years. The Qantas CEO, the ANZ Bank CEO are you kidding me?. Lockdown has seriously distorted your thoughts and the sooner we get out of it, the better off you will be. Just as I was recovering, you put the final nail into my coffin. Overlands appointment to Burnie council. I had to double my medication after seeing that one. Overland was described in the AFP as part of the blue flame club. He was moving that fast up the ladder all you saw was the blue flame......... He was also called Simon the wonderboy but I never did like that one because it put him in a superhero category and he is far from that. In Vicpol, his nickname was the lantern. The lights are on but nobody is home (and I got that one from a previous Vicpol Commissioner). I may need to go into therapy now and hope they can fix my issues but I doubt it. PS. All of your jokes relate to a bar and drinking, are you OK???

    1. Maybe not those particular people to run the state for a while, people with a bit of a can do attitude, who are competent, confident and good communicators and most importantly aren't politicians.

      As long as I keep drinking I am fine, thanks for asking............only kidding folks all things in moderation here.

  2. Maybe you don’t need a haircut as you don’t smell as bad as my dog.
    Maybe Richard should start his own blog- he seems to have a lot to say.
    Maybe you should give up on the jokes - just a thought.
