Blog Day 189 - 30 September 2020
On Wednesday evening a camel walked into a bar and the barman asked him how he was going and the camel said "thank goodness it is hump day".
Last evening I attended the opening of a new exhibition at the AWM. The exhibition is called "Ink in the Lines" and is a photographic exhibition of serving and former serving members of the ADF and their tattoos. Many of the tattoos appear to be real works of art and extremely large, dense and artistic. Many of them reflect aspects of service of the people wearing the tattoos and are used to deal with difficulties these people have experienced as a result of their service. There were a number of tattoos on men and women who served with the ADF in Rwanda. I know that many of the Rwanda veterans have difficulty dealing with their service there due to their experiences and in some cases their inability to prevent the atrocities occurring around them, not through any fault of their own I hasten to add.
One of the tattoos included the words - Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. These words are apparently inscribed on the memorial at the start of the Kokoda Track (trail??). Words that were apt for that time and equally so for today.
I daresay the exhibition and the launch will be available on line and I suggest that you have a look at it if you are so inclined.
A poo testing station in Anglesea has detected traces of the virus in the sewage for the area although there hasn't been any reported cases there for some time. The authorities are saying if you live in the Anglesea area and have a runny nose that you should get tested. Given the nature of the detected traces I don't think that a runny nose is the issue, so to speak. Not sure where to go with this but just take it on board for information purposes.
Into today's figures. Victoria reported 13 new infections in the last 24 hours which is an increase on the 10 reported the previous day and the 5 reported on the day before. Lets hope that the numbers start to drop again pronto. A further 4 deaths reported in Victoria bringing the Victorian total to 798 and the Australian total to 886. There are 44 Victorians in hospital due to the virus and 6 in ICU and 3 on ventilators.
The rolling 14 day average continues to decline but a ways to go before we get to the next trigger point;
29/09: Metro 18.6, Regional 0.2, 18.8
30/09: Metro 16.4, Regional 0.4, 16.8
There is absolutely no comfort in the worldwide figures, I will have a closer look at them tomorrow (that is if tomorrow is Thursday, getting harder and harder to keep track).
