Blog Day 196 - 07 October 2020
All the animals were outside waiting for the bar to open, when the publican unlocked the door the beaver pushed past all the other animals and was the first through the door and the publican said "you are a bit eager aren't you"?
I don't have anything to say about the budget. Apart from a general reliance on the health of the economy there was nothing in there for me.
There is some discussion around what will happen if we haven't reached the trigger points by 19/10 when the next step in the relaxation of the lockdown restrictions are scheduled to occur. The trigger points for the next step are a daily rolling 14 day average of less than 5 new infections and fewer than 5 mystery cases over the previous 14 days. Currently in metropolitan Melbourne our rolling 14 day average is 9.9 and there has been 12 mystery cases in the last two weeks. The premier is sticking to his guns and will not discuss what will happen on 19/10 either if the targets are met or not met. The CHO is saying that the targets are not hard and fast the situation will depend on analysis of the figures, are the unknowns in the general community or are the infections limited to health care and aged care and so on.
There will be some very very unhappy people around is there isn't some sort of relaxation of the lockdown rule on 19/10, no matter what the figures are. I might have to join the red flag brigade on the steps of the Shrine.
But to give you some idea what can happen there are now 31 cases associated with the Chadstone cluster, including two in rural Victoria in Kilmore. You may recall that this cluster was caused by one infected person continuing to work as a cleaner at a Chadstone butcher shop. Just goes to show how quickly and widely the virus can spread. I think what I am saying here is that any relaxation of the lockdown rules will need to be tempered with a fair degree of caution.
Now here is something very interesting. Andrew Crisp who is our Emergency Management Commissioner recently gave evidence to the hotel quarantine enquiry. In his sworn evidence he stated three times that he had regularly briefed the Police Minister on 27 and 28 March 2020 on the lead up to the hotel quarantine operation.
Crisp has now formally changed his sworn evidence and he now states that he did not brief the minister on 27 & 28 March about the hotel quarantine operation. The premier has been questioned on this in his daily press conference and has said that nobody in the government had anything to do with Crisp changing his evidence. As Christine Keeler once famously said "he would say that wouldn't he".
Has Crisp perjured himself and can this be corrected by a later admission?
Oh, and by the way Crisp is an Andrews appointment to the role.
Wonder who else is going to own up to a possible perjury (allegedly)?
The hotel quarantine enquiry the enquiry that keeps giving.
Now onto today's figures, Victoria reported 6 new infections in the last 24 hours down from 15 the previous day. We reported 2 deaths bringing the state total to 809. Although the 2 Victorian deaths were the only deaths reported nationally the national death toll has risen by 29 and I haven't been able to find any explanation. I am assuming that it some sort of adjustment after a reconciliation between the state and national figures. There are 16 Victorians in hospital with the virus and 2 in ICU and none on ventilators.
Rolling 14 day average;
6/10: Metro 10.6, Regional .3, Total 10.9
7/10: Metro 9.9, Regional .3. Total 10.2
Mystery cases in last 14 days - 12
Worldwide cases have increased by 343,000 in the last 24 hours and 8,622 more deaths have been recorded. Both of these figures are extremely high and globally show no signs of abating. Further investigation of worldwide figures tomorrow.

And now the stage 4 lockdown 2nd step restrictions remembers.
Remember: if you are doing anything wrong don't get caught, it could cost you $5,000!; you gotta wear a face mask no more face shields - thems the rules; somebody somewhere is testing your poo!; do not under any circumstances annoy a Cassowary; if you need a boost to your morale watch Zulu; keep to your 5km zone and if that doesn't include a beach don't go to the beach; try not to commit perjury (allegedly).
I believe Saint Donald proves beyond any doubt, the virus is nothing. He clearly is a Saint because everyone has witnessed a verified miracle, he has heroic virtue and rather than become a servant of god, isn't he god himself. Such an amazing display to be confirmed positive one day then back at work three days later. Being nominated for a nobel peace prize is nothing compared to the last few days. A miracle to behold.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he should be nominated for the Nobel prize for medicine!

ReplyDeleteWell that will help his shares in the pharmaceutical company, that's for sure. By the way, my 'deleted' comment was a duplication of the first comment. No idea why it posted it twice, probably user error.
