Blog Day 125 - Saturday 07 November 2020

This one has been provided by Leanne, one of my regular readers and contributors.  Why isn't Trump allowed back in the Whitehouse?  It's for-biden.

Still no definite result in the US presidential election although a Biden win is looking more and more likely.

The Victorian and national figures continue to look good with minimal new infections and no new deaths Australia wide.  The premier will be announcing a further lessening of the lockdown restrictions tomorrow and unless something dramatically bad happens this should include the lifting of the "ring of steel" around Melbourne and the lifting of the 25km travel restriction within metropolitan Melbourne.

There will be an increase in the numbers of people who can attend restaurants, cafes and hotels etc both the indoor and outdoor numbers.  I don't know what these increases will be so I won't try and guess.  Obviously any increase will be favourable to the hospitality venues in making it more viable to open.  I notice that the Boundary Hotel has sign in the window saying that they intend to announce a reopening date on 09/11 and it will probably be in that week.

One of the big issues at the moment is the continued wearing of masks which is becoming a point of contention.  I think that most people accept the necessity to wear a mask in a shopping centre, supermarket and other place where you maybe in close proximity to other people.  But at the moment you still have to wear your mask if you are walking alone in a 20 acre park, and that is what people are objecting to.

My sister, who lives in Tasmania, has kindly reminded me that she and her "friend" are going away for a few days next week to a Gordon River cruise with $300 provided by the state government to assist with accommodation and cruise costs.  I told her that I am going to brunch tomorrow within my 25km limit and not receiving any government assistance.

Now for the good news, Victoria has recorded an 8th day of zero new infections and zero deaths, Australia wide there were only 5 new infections (all in NSW, 4 of which were returned overseas travellers) and no new deaths.  Victoria is still maintaining a pretty impressive testing regime with 17,000 tests results received in the last 24 hours.

Australia wide there is currently 99 active corona virus cases with 8 in Victoria, 44 in NSW, 8 in Qld, 16 in WA, 17 in SA, 6 in NT, and none in Tas and ACT.

Victoria rolling 14 day average;

06/11: Metro 1.3, Regional .0, Total 1.3
07/11: Metro 0.9, Regional .1, Total 1.0

Worldwide the figures are continuing to get worse and worse, 638,000 new infections in the last 24 hours bringing the total new infections worldwide to 49,650,000 and 9,000 new deaths bringing the total number virus related deaths to 1,248,000.

And now the stage 4 lockdown 3rd step restrictions remembers;

Remember: Apparently we can walk into a bar and get a beer; no matter how hard we try sometimes the figures just don't add up; if you are subpoenaed to produce documents to produce all of them!; don't take your eyes off the ball; keep your visitor log book; don't hang around smoking outside a cafe; don't travel to Peru; gamble responsibly; continue to wear your mask responsibly especially at the beach; be careful drinking and gambling, dangerous combination!; don't be a dill and forget to wear your mask on your walk.
