Blog Day 306 - Wednesday 27 January 2021

Just got home from lunch with some friends in the CBD.  Apart from the Shrine volunteer lunch before christmas this is the only time that I have been in the city since June last year.  I caught the train in and out wearing my mask of course.  Both trains were nearly empty and everybody were wearing their masks.  The city itself is still very quiet although the pedestrian numbers appear to be building up.  There are still a lot of empty shops and a lot of cafes and restaurants are either not opened or operating on minimum staff and providing minimum service.

The CBD retail and hospitality certainly appears to have been hit a lot harder than similar businesses in the shopping centres and the strip shopping streets, at least around here anyway.

Two of the friends I lunched with work for a department of the Commonwealth public service and another works for one of the major accounting firms.  They have all been working from home since about March last year and made their first forays back into the office last week.

They are all working 2 or 3 days a week in the office and the balance of the days from home by arrangements made with their employers.

As it is late in the afternoon I will do a quick update on the local figures and catch up with the worldwide figures tomorrow.

Australia wide there were 5 new cases reported all ROTs, with 2 in Victoria, 2 in NSW and 1 in Qld.

These were as a result of 13,600 tests in Victoria, 9,700 in NSW and 4,600 in Qld.

Currently Victoria has 31 active cases including 30 ROTs, NSW has 49 active cases plus 48 ROTs and QLD has 12 active cases all ROTs.  Australia wide there are 112 active cases, 62 of whom are ROTs plus 48 ROTs in NSW.

Victoria has now gone 21 days without a local community transmission.

  1. Will my foil hat protect me from the chip the Government is going to put in the covid vaccination so that they will be able to control our minds? (Before you comment about my mind Graeme just remember you are related)
