Blog Day 324 - Sunday 14 February 2021 - Valentines Day

Day two out of five of this lockdown.  No traffic around, a few walkers and exercisers most but not all wearing masks, some of the mask wearers are wearing them tucked under their nose.

Three out of three florists shops in Bentleigh East were open this morning when I walked past, they shouldn't be open as they are not one of the exempt businesses.  Even the $2 shop that traded out of the back door all through the last lockdown was closed today.  Luckily I bought my valentine day flowers prior to lockdown.

The supermarket appeared to be busy but not frantic with plenty of toilet paper on the shelves although almost every person coming out the door was carrying a big bundle of the stuff.  How much toilet paper can you use in five days???  On second thought please don't answer that.

Now for the good news, President Trump has been acquitted by the US Senate in his impeachment trial, leaving no legal impediment to him running again in 2024.  Maybe Ms Pelosi can get back to trying to run the country and give up her obsessive and pointless pursuit of President Trump.  Ms Pelosi was just on the news bleating about President Trump's acquittal, she certainly isn't fond of the man and is a poor loser.

A Greek tennis player who was in Melbourne for the ATP cup and flew out on 09/02 has tested positive to the virus upon arrival in South Africa.  It is claimed that he tested negative prior to leaving Victoria.  What do they say? Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.

Now to today's figures.  There has been another 3 infections reported in Victoria, 2 new community infections and one ROT.  It has been confirmed that the 2 new community transmissions were as a result of them attending a function at a restaurant attended by an infectious person.  This venue was also the source of yesterday's community transmission.  This brings to 16 the number of infections from the Holiday Inn cluster.

It is interesting that restaurant where the function allegedly took place appears to be closed and vacant with the windows covered up, and for lease signs on the windows.  This looks very suspicious, what is going on here?

Anyway, NSW reported two new cases both ROTs and NT reported one new case also a ROT.  Australia wide there were 6 new cases 4 of which were ROTs.  NSW has now gone 28 days without a local transmission.

In the last 24 hours Victoria received the results of 21,500 tests, NSW 16,300 and Qld 6,200.

Currently Victoria has 21 active virus cases of which 14 are ROTs, NSW has zero active community transmissions and 33 ROTs, Qld has 7 active cases all ROTs.  Australia wide there are 42 active cases 34 of which are ROTs plus NSW's 33 ROTs.

It looks like NZ might have some problems with 3 community transmissions in the last 24 hours and possibly 2 more in the previous 24 hours.

Worldwide there were 359,000 new infections and 9,900 new deaths.  Although these figures are continuing a downward trend the death figures have taken the total number of virus related deaths to over 2.4 million.

The US continues a decline in new infections with 99,500 reported in the last 24 hours, however at 5,400 deaths this is the highest daily death figure for some time.  The UK continues to report declines in both daily infections at 15,100 and deaths at 760.

Covid Normal Reminders;

Remember: to think carefully before mucking around with spreadsheets and tables in Blogger; to keep up your Covid era exercise regime; if you put your mask on when you enter a shop you can take it of again when you leave ( I seem to get home and realise I still have my mask on); to laugh at my jokes; it is a beautiful day out there, get out and enjoy it; keep your corporate governance up to date; bring yourself up to date with the stage 4 lockdown rules; to buy your valentine day flowers before lockdown.

  1. Trump couldn't (Can't) even accept he lost the election - in the rankings of sore losers, I think Trump might just "Trump" Pelosi. But that's my take on it.

    1. Hmm, thought that might have been your position, unfortunately I can't think of anything witty that goes with Pelosi, apart from "loser".
