I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father.  Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.

No comment from me today on the Megs and Hazza interview.  I didn't watch the interview and as usual I am not prepared to comment on something that I know little about.

Big news today, the premier of Victoria is in hospital after falling over on some wet and slippery stairs at home getting ready to go to work, apparently he has sustained broken ribs and fractured vertebrae and could be in ICU for a number of days.  Thankfully he hasn't suffered any head injuries.

We seem to have gone very very quiet on the inoculation program in this state.  In the last 24 hours we inoculated just over 1,000 of our citizens, for a total to date of 15,500.  In the same 24 hours NSW did 2,700 for a total of 21,800; Qld 1,800 for a total of 8,300 and WA 1,400 for a total of 9,300. The Feds have vaccinated nearly 24,000 folk in nursing homes.  The total of inoculations to date Australia wide is 87,400.

Going to be a while until we get to jabbing class 2A which I think includes me.  

Otherwise everything else corona virus seems to be going along Ok, at least in Australia.  Victoria recorded the only new infection Australia wide in the last 24 hours and that is an airline crew member who is in hotel quarantine.  

Testing numbers have dropped off with Victoria receiving the results of 8,900 tests in the last 24 hours; NSW 6,800 and Qld 5,200.  This could be as a result of lower testing numbers due to the weekend and the lack of community transmissions for 11 days in Victoria and longer in the other states, resulting in less concern about the virus in the general public.

Worldwide the trend in new infections appears to be downward with 291,000 new infections reported in the last 24 hours and 364,000 in the day before that.  Although difficult to tell the worldwide death figures are trending slightly downwards with 6,300 deaths in the last 24 hours and 5,500 the day before that.

The daily US and UK are continuing their downward trend.  The US reported 46,000 new infections in the 24 hours of 08/03 and 669 deaths in the same period.  The figures in the US are only affected by time differences and delays in reporting.  I have often noticed that the US figures may be changed after the day of reporting.  I would expect the death figure of 669 for 08/03 will be higher when reviewed again tomorrow.

Brazil reported nearly 81,000 new infections in the last 24 hours nearly double the next highest country being the US with 46,000 new infections.  Brazil is going to be in lots of trouble once these infection figures start translating into deaths.

The UK is still getting along nicely although they are still in  a pretty stringent lockdown.  The UK reported 5,300 new infections in the last 24 hours and 82 deaths, continuing a strong downward trend in both.
