Blog Day 347 - Wednesday 10 March 2021

I got myself one of those new fangled "Hey Google" machines the other day and so far it has proven to be the most expensive clock radio I have ever bought.  Although I can also time my boiled eggs for breakfast with it.  I must read the instructions one day, Oh that's right it didn't come with any!

Isn't interesting that anything our premier does has a bit of a whiff about it.  Protecting union mates, protecting himself and unnamed other parties in the hotel quarantine fiasco, throwing other people under the bus to protect himself, looking after his mates in the business world etc.

As you may already know the premier has seriously injured himself falling down some wet and slippery stairs the other day and could be incapacitated for weeks and possibly months.  Well, it turns out that the stairs that he fell down were at a 'holiday' house on the Mornington Peninsula.  Any guesses as to whose 'holiday' house he was staying at and in which family compound.  Was any business discussed over the weekend at the 'holiday' house and did it involve using an airport owned by a certain family as a base for quarantining returning overseas travellers.

If this was discussed were minutes of the meeting kept in case of future investigations or royal commissions.

At least if the premier decides to sue the owner of said 'holiday' house for negligence there should be plenty of money available to pay up.  Or maybe it will be just another little deal done on the side.

Of course the next question is which one of the factional lackies, quota selected, union mate, branch stacking ministers is going to get to run the state whilst the premier recovers.

But of course I wish the premier all the best and trust he has a speedy recovery.

We live in interesting times.

Australia wide the new infection figures have increased a bit but fortunately they are all ROTS and are all in hotel quarantine and fortunately are in hotel quarantine in states other than Victoria.

In the last 24 hours there were 13 new cases reported Australia wide, all ROTs and of these 5 were in NSW and 5 in Qld with the others spread around the other states, but not Victoria.

Victoria received the results of 16,600 tests in the last 24 hours, NSW 15,500 and Qld 7,700.

Currently there are 119 active virus cases Australia wide with 115 of those being ROT's.  Victoria has the only active cases that aren't ROTs and we have 4 of them.

To date Victoria has vaccinated 18,300 people, 2,800 in the last 24 hours; NSW a total of 27,000, 3,100 in the last 24 hours; Qld a total of 12,000, 1,900 in the last 24 hours and the Feds have jabbed a total of 25,500 in old folk homes etc.  Nationally we have vaccinated a total of nearly 106,000 people, or still less than .5% of the population.  I will let you make up your own mind as to how well this is all going.

Worldwide the daily new infections and death figures continue to rise with 421,000 new infections reported in the last 24 hours and 9,900 deaths in the same period.  To date there has been 118 million citizens of the world infected and 2.6 million shuffled off their mortal coil.

I am not sure what is going on in Spain they recently adjusted their numbers of infections downward by 74,000.  Spain also reports zero new infections and zero deaths every Sunday and Monday.  Must have long siestas on those days or they are all at the bullfights.  (I should try and find some photos I took when I attended a bullfight in Barcelona in 1986).

The US & UK figures are continuing to look good, 50,000 new infections in the US in the last 24 hours and 719 deaths.  The UK reported 4,800 new infections in the last 24 hours and only 65 deaths in the same period.  A week ago the US reported 57,400 daily infections and 1,400 deaths and the UK 5,500 new infections and 104 deaths.

    1. Like I am ever going to run out of dad jokes, Google comes to me for them.

  2. People check with Google what the weather is going to be for the day before they get out of bed. Not sure whether the answer would make a difference to whether you get out of bed or not.
