Blog Day 438 - Sunday 13 June 2021 - Day 17 Lockdown Version 4 (extended - light)

Some of you would be aware of the saga that has become my application to work for the ABS in a casual, part time, temporary position in the upcoming national census.

From my intial application on 22nd February 2021 I have finally received my Letter of Engagement.  The following has been the process to date;

• Complete and lodge application on line
• Complete 'square pegs in round holes' psychometric testing on line
• Complete on line "one way" video interview
• Provide details of two references (who were contacted)
• Receive letter telling me my application was unsuccessful
• Received phone call from Adecco (agency running employment program for ABS) in response to an email from me.  Told me I they would reactivate my job application.
• Completed on line interview with Adecco representative
• Completed on on line 100 point identification check - via AusPost
• Received letter telling me my application was unsuccessful
• Received request to complete application for Police check - completed and lodged
• Received job offer and letter of engagement including "Undertaking of Fidelity and Secrecy" to be signed, witnessed and returned, said document signed, witnessed and returned.

Hate to see the process if I was applying for a department head or executive role at the ABS.

Now of course for the good news, the real premier has advised us that his back brace has been removed and he will be back in control and charge in two weeks time.  We are all looking forward to see his stern but caring visage looking out at us from the daily media conference.

Life goes on in the world known as the lockdown you have when you are not having a lockdown in the state of Victoria.  Still can't go more than 25km from home, have a visitor to my home and go to work (if I had a job, although I am now officially a part time, casual, temporary employee of the ABS).

One new local infection reported in Victoria in the last 24 hours, a known contact of a known contact, so nothing to see here folks.  Testing numbers were down in the last 24 hours with only 13,500 results received in Victoria and only 17,000 virus doses administered.

No new local infections reported in the rest of the country, however 9 ROTs tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Worldwide, India is continuing its excellent run of declining new daily infections however the number of deaths in the last 24 hours was up a bit.  Brazil's daily infection and death figures continue to rise, at 85,000 new infections in the last 24 hours this is one of the highest figures for this country this year.

Having got into the low 2,000s earlier this year the UK daily infections for the last 24 hours was 7,960 and the trend is increasing.  Although only 17 deaths were recorded in the UK in the last 24 hours this figure is also on the up and up.  But, as long as they can go to the pub for a pint I am sure that they will be right.
