Blog Day 434 - Monday 07 June 2021 - Day 11 Lockdown Version 4 (Extended)

Fair dinkum, I am going to punch somebody one day.  I went into my local IGA this morning to buy a couple of odds and ends, suitably masked, QR coded and hands sanitised.  A bloke walked in after me, no mask, no QR code and no hand sanitising and walked around doing his shopping completely unchallenged.  And did I mention that he appeared to be in his 30's.

(PS Odds and ends is actually a euphemism for tonic water and limes).

Now, I wouldn't normally comment of the shenanigans of the British royal family and their inbred offspring, but really, have Wills and Megs gone completely nuts or are they being incredibly cruel or a mixture of both.  They have named their newborn daughter Lilibet, which apparently was Prince Phillip's pet name for the Queen.  Enough said on this subject.

And now for the bad news, there were 11 new local infections reported in Victoria in the last 24 hours, including 2 people associated with aged care facilities and 3 children.  Now for the sort of good news, all 11 infections are associated with known clusters and are already in quarantine.

As a matter of interest, two weeks ago we had no active cases in Victoria, now we have 94.

No new local infections have been reported in the last 24 hours for the rest of the country.

In the last 24 hours 37,000 doses of the vaccine were administered in Victoria.  I now have some Victorian vaccine dose numbers that actually add up and make sense.  So far in Victoria there has been 1,456,580 doses of the vaccine administered; 650,878 have been administered through state government hubs, 93,288 doses have been administered in the care system and 712,414 doses have been administered by GP clinics.

Of these doses 1,327,300 are 1st doses of the vaccine and 129,280 are 2nd doses.  I daresay that the take up of the second dose is a matter of enforced timing as I, for example, cannot get my second dose until 3 August.

There were 24,000 test results received in Victoria in the last 24 hours and 14,000 received in NSW for the same period.

Once again given we are receiving the weekend figures for the rest of the world they are to be treated with a hint of scepticism.  However, on the figures available, India is still reducing its daily infections, likewise the USA and Turkey, while the Brazilian daily infections continue to rise.  Seems to be a bit of a pattern in all of this.

The UK and Japanese daily infections have levelled off and the overall worldwide figure is declining.

The daily death figures are a reflection of the daily infections, with India, USA, Turkey and Japan all recording declines in their numbers of deaths.  Brazil's death numbers continue to rise, the UK and the worldwide death figures have maintained their current level.
