Who would have thought that after all this time wearing masks that I would discover two new interesting facts about wearing a mask on ones daily covid approved walk. Fact one, it is very difficult walking into a strong headwind while wearing a mask and fact two, do not wear a mask straight after drinking a strong black coffee, talk about recycling coffee breath, pheweeeee.

And quelle horreur it has been announced that this year's AFL grand final, for a second year in a row will not be held at the MCG, aka 'the G'.  Those nasty sandgropers have stolen it off us and the grandy will be held at some dodgy stadium in Perth.  I wonder if it has lights and a PA system.

Oh well I daresay the grand final will be back in its rightful place at the G next year, or did we say that last year?  

So, what is happening in covid virus world, quite a bit actually.  The premier has finally stated that if people choose not to be vaccinated they will be excluded from attending certain venues and events when things are finally opened up.  At the moment nationally we are 12 days away from 70% of the eligible population being vaccinated with their 1st dose and 26 days for 80% to receive their first dose.  We are 57 days away from 70% eligible population receiving their second dose and 74 days away from 80% receiving their 2nd dose.  This is based on the current 7 day average of vaccinations administered.

Currently in Victoria there are more than 1,000 virus exposure sites.  In the last 24 hours Victoria reported 209 new cases of which 96 are from known sources and 112 are under investigation, we don't appear to be being told at the moment how many of these people were active in the community whilst infectious, why would that be I wonder?  Victoria received the results of 48,600 tests in the last 24 hours.  We reported one virus related death in Victoria in the last 24 hours. 

NSW daily infection figures continue to increase, in the last 24 hours they reported 1,433 new cases and 12 deaths.  They received the results of 155,000 tests in the last 24 hours.  Between 10/7 and 3/9 NSW has reported 119 deaths bringing to 173 their total death toll for the entire pandemic.  NSW has 973 patients in hospital due to the virus and 160 in ICU and 63 on ventilators compared to 64 in hospital in Victoria with 16 in ICU and 13 on ventilators.

For the first time in a few days I have tried to make some sense of the worldwide figures, but irregularity of reporting of figures is making that difficult.

For example in the last seven days the US has reported daily infection figures ranging from 38,000 to 258,000 and daily death figures ranging from 285 to 3,100.  

The UK is a bit more consistent with daily infection figures over a seven day period ranging from 26,000 to 38,000 and daily death figures for the same period ranging between 48 and 207.

Anybody else confused, I certainly am!  Further investigation required.
