Blog Day 531 - Tuesday 14 Sept 2021 - Day 40 of Covid Lockdown V6.0 Extended

Due to the Shrine being closed again for an extended time we are back into a program of regular weekly  Zoom meetings with the Shrine education staff and volunteers.  The meetings are a combination of information, training and social exchanges.  Although it is easy to get a bit "Zoomed" out it has to be recognised as a marvellous thing for keeping groups together in times like this.

I think that I also have a Zoom trivia night tomorrow night which are now popping up again on an irregular basis.

I am getting sick and tired of the state government's constant failure to include the Federal government's inoculation figures in the figures for the state of Victoria.  At the news conference today the former acting deputy assistant premier pro tem, Mr Merino, was trumpeting the news that 36,600 Victorians had been vaccinated at the state hubs in the last 24 hours with no mention of the 38,000 who had been vaccinated at GPs and the like.  This is both churlish and childish.

One of the interesting exposure sites in Victoria is the Fitzroy Community School, which I think might be referred to as an "alternative" style of school and that is probably being kind.  Anyway the headmaster of this school didn't seem to think that the Covid rules applied to his school and as a consequence there has been 33 active cases sourced from this school with a further four today.

As it stands in Victoria, 85% of the the 3,799 active cases are under 60 years of age and 500 cases are less than 9 years old.  Of the two deaths in Victoria in the last 24 hours one was a male in his twenties.  He hadn't been identified as being infected with the virus until the post mortem was done.

Currently Australia wide 68.5% of the eligible population has received their 1st dose of the vaccine, 67.6% of the eligible Victorian population and 71.1% of the Glen Eira LGA.  Australia wide 43.3% of the eligible population has received their 2nd dose, 41.4% of the Victorian eligible population and 45.8% of the Glen Eira LGA.

I live in the Glen Eira council area, although don't tell the IRA that, and I am proud to be part of a group exceeding both the national and state vaccination figures.

Meanwhile in the last 24 hours Victoria recorded 445 new cases, NSW 1,136 and ACT 22.  This was from the results of 43,000 tests received in Victoria in the last 24 hours and 114,000 tests in NSW in the same period.

There has been two more deaths reported in both Victoria and NSW in the same period.

The ACT has extended their lockdown for a further four weeks and our premier has told us that if we are all good little Victorians he will deign to provide us with details of the "road map to reopening the state" on this Sunday.  No matter what I say about him, the premier really is a good man with only the interests of the State at heart and no thought for his own political future 😜.
