Blog Day 605 - Friday 03 December 2021 - Day 35 of Covid Nearly Normal
Just a quick update today to let you all know that I am still around and active. I tell you now that this socialising and getting out and about isn't all that it is cracked up to be.
I may have mentioned my friends Flashy and Lady P before, they are currently in Melbourne on holidays from Cairns.
It is a little bit complicated but Flashy has two sons, one of whom is my godson, who live in Melbourne and Flashy and Lady P have a daughter who also lives and Melbourne. Well, the whole family is what you might call sociable and enjoy a lunch or dinner or possibly a lunch and dinner and a few drinks, so the week has been hectic, to say the least, and there is more to come.
My godson and his wife, who is American, like to do a thanksgiving dinner and as they are going to be away over Christmas they are throwing a combined thanksgiving/christmas lunch tomorrow. There will be much turkey, creamed corn, mac n cheese and various pies with all the trimmins and a drink or two. I think that there will be about 21 adults and 5 children in attendance. I reckon that sometime in the afternoon I will be looking for a possie "far from the madding crowd" as they say.
And it will definitely be an Uber there and home again.
As you may possibly be aware we still have a little problem with a thing called the covid virus, although things are certainly better in Victoria and nationally we seem to have hit the wall a bit.
Vaccination wise the vaccination rate is slowing down but that is to expected given that some states have now exceeded the 90% double vaxxed.
State Single Shot Double Shot
NSW 94.6% 92.6%
Vic 93.4% 91.0%
Qld 86.8% 77.2%
Aust 92.6% 87.4%
As we can see the big tough banana benders are frighties of the big bad needle.
Victoria is still recording daily new cases in the 1,000+ range with 1,189 in the last 24 hours and 1,400 the day before that. The hospitalisation numbers are stuck at around 290 patients in Victoria in hospital with the virus of which 43 are in ICU and 22 are on ventilators.
The Victorian figures certainly aren't dropping as quickly as NSW's, and I don't know why.
The Victorian death rate is up a bit as well with 11 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours and 10 the day before that.
