As you would all be aware we are living in a first world western civilised country with a first world health system.  If this is the case why are we accepting and treating patients in tents in hospital carparks! Our hospital emergency departments and wards are so overcrowded that new admissions into emergency departments are being treated in tents in the hospital carparks.  It was recently reported that a woman who had suffered a stroke was kept waiting for 12 hours in a tent a Box Hill hospital.

This is a disgrace, the Victorian government can find billions of dollars for its pet projects (all running over time and over budget, even the ones that haven't been started yet) yet we are treating hospital patients in tents.  Of course announcing these projects provide plenty of opportunities for photo ops with the appropriate minister smiling wearing pristine hard hats and high vis vests.

Talking of scandals, the old Red Shirts scandal is raising its ugly head again.  A police officer involved in the investigation has lodged a 29 page affidavit with IBAC claiming that the investigation into the affair was interfered with by senior police officers resulting in the investigation being compromised.  Remember, for the last two years we have been repeatedly told "nothing to see here" despite the ALP paying back $388,000 rorted from the good citizens of this fair state of ours.  Well, once again it appears that there maybe "something to see here".  Stay tuned folk.

Of course nobody in the state government is prepared to say anything about any of these matters, the premier stonewalls every enquiry and the training wheel ministers aren't allowed to say anything.

Anybody got a dog to lend me........

Naughty Cat!

Last Thursday I attended the National Vietnam Veteran's day at the Shrine and as I was watching the veterans march up the forecourt I thought "crikey, these blokes are looking old", they were looking like the TGW and WW2 veterans from years gone by.  And then it struck me, if these men are Vietnam Veterans they could be only a couple of years older than me.  That is a bit scary!

It was interesting to note that a number of the veterans had companion animals with them which I hadn't noticed before.

As you can see from the photos above, there was a concert held on the Shrine forecourt with some stars from the Vietnam period performing including Normie Rowe and Denise Drysdale.  Normie can still sting, Denise should have given up years ago.

It was interesting that many of the veterans stayed around well into the afternoon chatting with their mates almost as if they didn't want the occasion to end.

It would appear that there is a pattern of consistent declines in the covid figures emerging over the last few weeks.

The only figure that appears to be of ongoing concern is the number of covid related deaths being reported.  For example refer to the table below reporting the daily number of deaths in Victoria for the last week. As you can see the daily deaths range from a high of 46 to a low of 4, but all in all there were 160 covid related deaths in Victoria in the last week

Remember last year when we were aiming for the "doughnut days" and we were going to stay in lockdown until we achieved a certain number of "doughnut days", being nil covid infections and nil covid related deaths.

Now we are accepting thousands of daily infections and up to 46 daily deaths without a whimper.  Is there an election coming up??????

That will do for today, update on the figures next week.
