Alert, Alert, Alert - Rain bomb & catastrophic weather event approaching!

Has anybody else noticed that we don't have storms or a bit of nasty weather anymore, everything seems to be over dramatized and exaggerated.  Victoria is forecast to experience some heavy rain over the next 48 hours and as the water storages are already full minor flooding is being forecast.

We are being instructed to have 72 hours of supplies on hand in case we are cut off from the shops, oh no, how am I going to get my soy milk, warm latte.  Luckily for me I still have my emergency covid pandemic lockdown supplies purchased in April 2020 including the still remaining unused box of 144 rolls of toilet paper.  I wonder if my tins of Croation Hungarian Goulash are still edible, if they ever were.  My Spam will be fine given it has a use by date sometime next century.

Remember when the "sky is falling" panic merchants of the global warming, sorry climate change brigade were forecasting that the dams in south eastern Australia would never have water in them again and that Perth was going to disappear into the desert.

Pheww, thank goodness that hasn't happened.  Our dams are full to overflowing with water spilling over the spillways.  Of course in our strange Alice in Wonderland world in Victoria we are still buying the most expensive water in the world from our super-duper desalination plant to pump it into our already overfull dams and reservoirs.  I am sure that this makes sense to somebody somewhere but it has passed me by.

At least we aren't spending millions of dollars pumping water through our billion dollar north south pipeline. Anybody want to buy a billion dollar north south pipeline, still in pristine condition as it has never been used!.  Now there is a billion dollars well spent.

I travelled into the CBD earlier this week to have lunch with some friends.  The train was very empty, although I wasn't travelling in peak hour, and hardly anybody was wearing a mask.

The CBD is still very quiet and considering it was lunch time the streets were not at all busy.  Plenty of empty and closed premises and hospitality businesses still operating on limited hours and limited menus.  Many people are still working from home either five days a week or working some days at home and some days at the office.  This will need to change to bring the CBD back to life.

The covid rules have been further relaxed in Victoria with schoolchildren no longer having to wear masks at school.  This means that in Victoria only people working in the health care system or the aged care system are required to wear masks whilst at work.  Furthermore it is no longer compulsory to report positive covid infections and although it is highly  recommended it is no longer compulsory for folk experiencing covid symptoms to isolate for any period.

Given it is not obligatory to report covid infections and the publication of covid numbers is haphazard at best I have decided not to report on the covid statistics in this blog any more.  I will continue to monitor the numbers as best as possible and will report any significant covid issues.

I thought that you would find the following tables of interest.  The numbers in red in both the cases and deaths tables are the daily figure for 11/10, however as these figures fluctuate significantly on a daily basis the seven day average figures are probably more meaningful.

The vaccination figures are interesting, I don't know how a country can have a higher percentage of its population receiving their 3rd vaccination than have received their 1st and 2nd, for example Chile.
