Blog Day 35: Monday 27 April 2020

I have signed up for the virus tracker app today, very simple and straightforward. I was a little surprised to shortly after receive an email from the Government telling me that my ankle bracelet will be sent to me in the mail.  Apparently once I put that on I don't have to worry about carrying my phone around with me all the time, and if I wander too far away from home it will give me a little electric shock, great idea I reckon.

Below is an updated spreadsheet.  The last two columns, 'Deaths Increase No' & 'Deaths Increase %' are the increases from the previous week (20/4/2020).

Corona Virus International Stats as at 27/04/2020

Country  Population Infected No Infected % Deaths No Deaths % Deaths Increase No Deaths Increase %
Australia 25,000,000 6,716 0.0269 83 0.00033 12 17
New Zealand 5,000,000 1,469 0.0294 19 0.00038 7 58
USA 331,000,000 987,160 0.2982 55,413 0.01674 14,858 37
UK 68,000,000 152,840 0.2248 20,732 0.03049 4,672 29
Italy 60,000,000 197,675 0.3295 26,644 0.04441 2,984 13
France 65,000,000 162,100 0.2494 22,856 0.03516 3,138 16
Spain 47,000,000 226,629 0.4822 23,190 0.04934 2,737 13
Sweden 10,000,000 18,640 0.1864 2,194 0.02194 654 42

The 58% increase for NZ would appear to be concerning but is hopefully an anomaly given it is an increase of 7 deaths over a very low starting figure of 12 deaths.  Likewise the figures for Australia are a little misleading at 17% as our total deaths are comparatively very low at 83.  Most of the European figures appear to be heading in the right direction apart from Sweden, looks like their little experiment isn't working. The US increase in deaths figures still appear to be high although in % terms to population their figures are lower than most.  But, once again along with NZ we appear to be doing remarkably well, lets not do too much to rock the boat.

I see from next Friday that Queenslanders will be allowed to go for a picnic.  I wish I could go for a picnic.

Current Virus Day Stats - Day 112

Aus: 6,720 (+10 from previous day) - 84 deaths (increase 1)
Recovered: 5,541
World: 2,970,705

  1. My goodness, playing catch up is wonderful. So many entries leading up to Anzac Day only to be let down by the fact no alarm was set. Gee what an anti climax that was. Well, I did get up and look out the window to see who was in the street. The neighbour across the road was out and he had the radio playing the last post. That sounded fine but then I heard a noise which was not familiar at all. After several minutes I realised it was the national anthem. My goodness, I don't know what station he had it tuned into but it was a very strange anthem to say the least.

Why didn't I get up, I had a shocker of a nights sleep. All I thought about was how much money I stand to lose from my Europe Trip. Everything I have done to reduce the cost has ended up costing me. I cannot believe the bad luck I have had in trying to get money back. But I have found out that Bookings.com.au is Australia based and has nothing to do with the American Bookings.com. Out of interest, have a look at the product reviews for Bookings.com and Hotels.com. I think one star is an overrating by the looks of the comments. This is who I am attempting to deal with. Bookings.com have actually removed the capability to contact them. Oh my goodness, give me a gun right now and let me get on a plane to join the American Revolution Part 11. I am sure it's coming and I only have two targets in mind. But I was told today, do not give up hope just yet so I live and hope that maybe I'll get the usual 1 cent in the dollar offer.

I'm i the process of preparing my camper for the weekend away. I'm sure the Victorian Gov't wouldn't stop me from traveling seeing as how I have my permit and have done everything legally to enjoy my weekend away could they?. Not sure people wearing tracking bracelets are permitted because then we will really get caught and locked up.

    1. Now then children, uncle Richard was a bit angry when he wrote above comments and doesn't mean some of what he said, particularly the gun bit. He was also joking about going away camping and has told me that he is certainly not encouraging people to break the social distancing and quarantine laws......isn't that right Richard?

    2. No Graham. The guns are in the car but I am debating camouflage or no camouflage and I need some ammo. The damn gun shops are closed, they must have heard I was coming. But the weather is also a big problem. Not sure I'm ready for camping in 13 degrees, snow hail and rain. Geez, I must be getting old

  2. I noticed that one of your readers asked for old photos of you - I don’t have any early childhood (Lynn has them) but I have lots of interesting ones around camp fires and many other social activities. Will have to look into posting them here - again - and let Lynn know.
