Blog Day 41: Sunday 03 May 2020
As I was walking today reflecting on how quiet the streets were and how grey the skies I started humming the following (to myself of course, I don't want to become the strange old guy in the hat walking around the streets humming), with apologies to Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash;
Well I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head, that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day
With no way to hold my head, that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day
Somehow this song seems appropriate for a Sunday morning in iso in Bentleigh East.
The other thing I decided to do today was that if I get an acknowledgement from a person passing the other way to my greeting, if it is a female, I am going to doff my hat. A little old fashioned I know but it was something that my father and grandfather would have done so who am I to break with tradition.
If you read yesterday's blog you will know that I am trying to track down the other 3 young soldiers on the motor bike with my grandfather. I think that I have found one of them and if it is him it is a remarkably sad story. Its funny in non amusing way that when you start out to look into the service of these men you expect a certain story, but every one of them surprises you in some way and are so very unique. I will report further on this once I have done a little further research.
Overnight virus stats are detailed below, infection figures are up and down from day to day although the death figures seem to have stabilised and are remarkably low when compared to other countries, but each death being tragic in its own right.
I see that Queensland has loosened its restrictions and they can travel 50km to go on a picnic, doesn't that sound jolly. Flashy and Lady P have broken out their wicker basket, picnic rug, thermos flask (probably with a martini in it instead of coffee), cucumber sandwiches and parasol and are heading to Mareeba for their picnic, have fun and think of us still in iso down south.
Current Virus Day Stats: Day 118
Vic: 1,384 infected (+13 from previous day) - 18 deaths (increase 0)
Aus: 6,793 infected (+15 from previous day) - 95 deaths (increase 2)
Recovered: 5,808
World: 3,424,254
Great excitement here. No new cases as at 6pm yesterday for 2 days. Shops that had to close for the last 3 weeks are allowed to open after midnight tonight. (will be lining up at Bunnings ). Really looking forward to be able to go to hairdressers, but will leave it for a few days. Going to suggest they will need hedge trimmer for my hair.
ReplyDeleteHope you have found some info on the photo. Have not heard from anybody on the facebook site as yet.
Lucky they closed the paper mill and put a Bunnings there.
DeleteExcellent song - recently heard at the Palais Theatre, St Kilda. I have found everyone very friendly on my daily dog park walk - we all nod to each other.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody mentioned how cute Frankie is?
