Blog Day 44: Wednesday 06 May 2020

On my walk today both an aeroplane and a helicopter (non police) flew over, my word it is getting busy around here.

Today, I will discuss a couple of comments and contributions from some of my legendary army of followers, I wonder if I qualify as an "influencer" yet?

Leanne has commented on yesterday's "What's in the pantry entry", asking what sort of wine would pair well with my can of Croatian beef goulash.  Given the label says it is 30% beef I am thinking maybe a cheeky red made from grapes grown in one of the well known Croatian wine making regions.  Open to other suggestions.

In a post a few days ago I mused upon the fate of the 3 men (boys?) in the photo with my grandfather and wondered if they all survived TGW and/or the Spanish Flu.  Leanne has asked if my grandfather ever spoke about the Spanish flu.  The short answer is, not that I can remember. The longer answer is that these returned servicemen rarely spoke about their experiences in the war anyway.  My grandfather spoke about his time in London from the time he was there recovering from his wound and the later appendicitis & peritonitis.  Like so many of these men he wasn't in the actual battle zone for very long, he arrived in France on 4 February 1918 and was wounded on 28 March 1918 and evacuated to England on 4 April and remained in England until after the end of the war. He returned to Australia in March 1919.

One of my readers (Richard) who I had previously thought as somewhat astute has sent me a youtube link to a song which he claimed to be "spiritual and uplifting".  While I found it to be sort of funny and well written I also found it to be disrespectful of Mr Trump and whilst not attempting to practice any political censorship as such this song will not find any promotion on this blog.  However you might find the following "spiritual and uplifting" and even a bit funny.

On the subject of music I have discovered a band called Coldplay, has anybody else out there heard of them?  The following is a stunning live concert performance of Viva La Vida and if that doesn't get you up and dancing I don't know what will.

And if you really have to listen to Richard's Trump song recommendation, here it is;

    1. Thanks Andrew, for a moment I thought that you were being genuine and then I recognised the sarcasm, another bubble burst.

    2. Oh no - not at all. I too have been though the highs and lows of becoming kind of a big deal in the blogging sphere. Just try to remain humble.

  2. I thought my song about Darthtrumper to be very good and how can you disrespect Mr Trump, he is brilliant, just ask him. I have also looked for my post on dysentery, am I being censored now. I will have to be careful what I say from here on. Nahhh, I'll say it as it as.

    1. I think that you may have neglected to hit the publish button on your dysentery post as it certainly hasn't been censored from this end. Please repost it as I am sure that we are all waiting on your well qualified comments on dysentery.
