Blog Day 51: Wednesday 13 May 2020

My word, day 51 of the blog and day 128 of the virus, although I am not sure now where I got the starting date of the virus from.  So, I am thinking, and in the absence of anything else to write about, I will review the highs and lows of this magnificent historical epic.

  •  One of my early blogs was about my attempts to develop a virus vaccine using brake fluid as the primary ingredient.  This wasn't particularly successful although I do note that Mr Trump was pursuing a similar theme with his idea of using disinfectant.  ( I know that should have followed up the international patents on my idea).
  •  I also didn't get very far with my project to develop a home made and cheap respirator using parts from my stick vacuum cleaner.  Never did solve the problem of the over sucking and blowing.
  •  One of the difficulties I faced with the development of the above projects was the escaping of my test ferrets.  Although there was an unintended benefit of the escaped ferrets in that there are no longer any stray cats around.
  •  Another of my really good ideas that didn't get off the ground was my "Rent a Pet" project.  I won't go into too much detail about this in case the RSPCA is still monitoring my communications and movements.
  •  I think that the big winner was my occasional series of "What's in the Pantry, Graeme"? This elicited more responses and comments than any other part of the blog.  It has also left me with a cupboard full of foreign, exotic and possibly inedible canned food that will still be there when the next pandemic rolls around.
  • The biggest disappointment was that Richard's piece on "Dysentery in a Time of Corona Virus" didn't make it to print.  Maybe next pandemic Richard.
  • I will mention Leanne here cause she likes to see her name in print.
  • And a big thank you for your comments and contributions as we have all gone through this difficult time together.  Hopefully better days ahead.
  • Lastly, I think the biggest success of this blog has been the education, pleasure and amusement that it has bought into your otherwise dull and boring lockdown lives.
While I will keep the blog going in the immediate future I am thinking that as the virus and the lockdown becomes less and less dominant in our daily lives the blog days are probably numbered.  We will see.

Current Virus Day Stats: Day 128

Vic: 1,514 infected (+7 from previous day) - 18 deaths (increase 0)
Aus: 6,980 infected (+ 12 from previous day) - 98 deaths (increase 1)
Recovered: 6,270
World: 4,261,747

(The increase in deaths in Australia by one is as a result of an elderly lady dying in NSW.  She was a passenger on the Ruby Princess and was the 22nd person to die from that ship).

  2. One day when this blog is studied as a historical masterpiece they will wonder... who was Leanne?
