Blog Day 64: Tuesday 26 May 2020

A big walk today, but in a good cause as it was in the pursuit of 'pear cake'.  A friend of mine, Donna, has become part of the pandemic baking/cooking epidemic and has been making all manner of things from soups to cakes and sharing this bounty with me amongst others.  So today I walked from the Centre Rd Bentleigh shops to Donna's rooms near the corner of Centre Rd and Thomas St, about 3km round trip to pick up some pear cakes.  Haven't tried them yet so a further report to follow.

Schools are back today for a limited number of students.  I reckon that there will be some nervous people in the government, health department and education department etc.  Hopefully all goes well and the balance of the students can return as scheduled, which I think is next week.

Good Luck to Andrew and Jacki who are both back in the classroom today, as teachers, and to Lucy who is back today, as a student.

I think that one of the new infections in NSW is related to the Ruby Princess fiasco. How can these still be popping up so long after the initial wave of infections.

The figures for Australia and Victoria are still low, however I note that there may be a further infection in a nursing home in Caulfield today.  We still seem to having some issues with clearing up these remaining stubborn pockets of the virus.

Corona Virus Daily Stats: Day 141

Vic: 1,610 (+5 from previous day) - 19 deaths (increase 0)
Aus: 7,126 (+12 from previous day) - 102 deaths (increase 0)
Recovered: 6,532
World: 5,467,945

  1. We were back yesterday with ELC to grade 2 and Year 10-12. Social distancing is not a thing that can occur in schools. The students today were just back to normal, touching and hugging each other as if nothing had happened. I even had a few conspiracy nuts who claim it's all made up - where are they getting this from I wonder? Probably other influencers - you must be careful with your new power to influence the masses Taz.

    1. Thanks Andrew, I am aware that with great influence comes great responsibility!
