Blog Day 73: Thursday 07 June 2020
As I have been feeling unwell now for some two weeks with a dry cough, runny nose, headaches and high temperature I decided today that I had better visit the doctor...……...only kidding folk, although I did go to the doctor today but only to get my blood pressure tablet prescription renewed and to have my blood taken for my annual blood test.
Going to the doctor in this day and age is a different experience than it used to be. When you pull into the car park there is a sign telling you to stay in the car and ring reception. So I did that and the receptionist told me to stay in the car and the doctor would ring me when he was ready to see me. The doctor rang me and I went inside and met him in the now empty waiting room and went into his rooms.
After having my blood pressure checked and receiving my new prescription I went to the pathology area to have my blood taken. The pathology nurse gave me a number and told me to wait outside in the car park. After a short wait a different nurse came to the clinic door and called my number, took me inside, painlessly took my blood and sent me on my way.
I was a little surprised that in the whole visit nobody queried if I had travelled overseas, been in contact with anybody who had travelled overseas or been in contact with any high risk persons. Nobody checked my temperature or jammed anything up my nose,(or anywhere else) thank goodness. The pathology nurse told me that I have good veins and that my blood is worth bottling.
Some of the staff were gowned up and wearing masks and gloves, others were wandering around in their normal clothes.
Eight new cases in Victoria out of a total of 12 Australia wide. No more deaths and I understand that the number of patients in hospital and ICU has dropped dramatically.
I see on the news that a 53 year old Australian man has died in Bali possibly as a result of the corona virus, at the time of his death he was accompanied by his 26 year old Indonesian girlfriend. No judgement here, just sayin.
The epidemiologist who is responsible for Sweden's approach to managing the virus has admitted that they were probably wrong and has been responsible for more deaths than necessary. Really Einstein!
It looks like Mexico is about to join the list of the big hitters in this thing with more than 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Be really interesting to see what results we get from the lack of social distancing in US and UK as a result of the protests. I have a new slogan You loot.. we shoot only if!
ReplyDeleteWe are going to have our own protest here tomorrow, you will get booked if there are more than twenty people in a restaurant but the police & Dangerous Dan have said that they will do nothing about 30,000 people in front of parliament house. Go figure!
