Blog Day 74: Friday 05 June 2020
I know that this will come as a big disappointment to my legion of dedicated readers but there probably won't be any blog entries for the next few days as I am going away for the long weekend. I anticipate being so busy with social (read drinking and eating) activities that I won't have the time or inclination to be blogging unless of course I get bored with the company and the activities. I can hear your sighs of disappointment from here. But never fear I will be back, probably next Tuesday. Won't that be a bumper edition!
You would all be aware of the proposed rallies in Melbourne and other parts of the country tomorrow. Three weeks ago Dangerous Dan was telling us that we were all going to die if more than five people attended a mother's day lunch, last week he told us we were all going to die if more than twenty people attended a restaurant at the same time. I think he said something along the lines of "if these rules are ignored it will kill people". However, DD and the police have now said that, contrary to the advise of the Chief Health Officer, they will allow a gathering of 30,000 people in front of parliament house. Why is the police commissioner going along with this, he is retiring at the end of this month so he no longer has to kowtow to DD as he has done for the rest of his tenure.
We have done such a great job at dealing with this virus and yet the government is prepared to risk it all to pander to a bunch of left wing extremists. Let them protest all they like once this pandemic is over or at least the risk is reduce to acceptable levels. To paraphrase a great premier of this state "once this pandemic is over they can march up and down until their feet fall off".
That's enough of all that so for a change of pace.
Another rib tickler from Leanne;
Q: Did you hear? The King of Spain has been quarantined on his plane. Do you know what this means?
A: It means the reign in Spain stays mainly on the plane!
Just wait for me to get my breath back.
Three new infections in Victoria and four more in NSW. Another primary school in the northern suburbs of Melbourne has been closed. An infected student attended the school prior to showing symptons. I see the French government has announced that there will be no Bastille Day parade down the Champs Elysees this year.
See you all next week, take care.
Corona Virus Daily Stats: Day 151
Vic: 1,681 infected (+3 from previous day) - 19 deaths (increase 0)
Aus: 7,247 infected (+7 from previous day) - 102 deaths (increase 0)
Recovered: 6,681
World: 6,600,692 infected - 389,620 deaths
Maybe dan is allowing the protests because he wants more people to get corona so he can put us into lockdown again?
