Blog Day 117: Sunday 19 July 2020

First the good news, I have had a win with Tattslotto.  I am thinking of putting the full amount of $13.65 into a trust fund to endow a research centre into the corona virus, I am expecting that they will name a wing in my honour.

Now the bad news, as from 11.59pm on Wednesday it will be compulsory to wear a face mask if out and about for any of the allowed reasons.  I think that given the current circumstances this is reasonable, but it does raise the question as to why it is now necessary to wear masks when it hasn't been so for the last 4 or so months.  The thing that concerns me is that there are exceptions to the rule and as we have discovered in the past that where are exceptions all the loophole Larrys and Lorraines come out of the woodwork.  Obviously some exceptions are legitimate and necessary but the one that concerns me is the exception to wearing a mask if you are exercising, in particular running.  I would have thought that the runners with their spitting, blowing of noses, sweating and heavy breathing would be the first to be made to wear masks, but alas not to be.

One of my regular and erudite readers has suggested that it is time for another in the amusing and popular series of "What's in the pantry Graeme"?

Today's entry is, I think, self explanatory and in the correct proportions for rations suitable for use in an "end of days" pandemic.

Note the responsible vodka bottle on the right wearing it's face mask, good vodka bottle.  And also note that you can get Spam with bacon, how is that for an "end of days" meal!

Today's updated virus figures are not particularly good with Victoria reporting 363 new infections, our second highest figure for the pandemic.  Yesterday's figure of 217 was a sign that the virus is playing cruel games with us.  There was four deaths reported in Victoria, 2 men in their 90's and a lady in her 90's with no details provided for one.  Stage four anyone?

Remember to wash your hands, keep your distance, keep your mask on, sneeze into your elbow (yuk), don't touch your face, press the traffic light button with your foot, eat your vegies, don't ride your bike on the footpath and be kind.

  1. I am so soooo tired of being kind. I put the gun away several weeks ago but it might be time to get it out again. I got locked up when I pressed the traffic light with my foot. It didn't help much when then entire button smashed. Criminal damage they said, thanks Graeme. I am starting to be very concerned about the amount of people connected to food processing or preparation becoming infected. Lots in the abattoirs. Might be time to become a vegan I think.

  3. I'm pleased that students will have to wear masks - that makes sense to me. If you are looking for a mask - you can't go too far wrong with a trendy mask from bonds - nope not making this up:
