Blog Day 145 - Sunday 16 August 2020

I am a little tired today as late last night I discovered another little gem on Youtube and sat up well after my bedtime watching it.  James Corden the host of a late night television show has done a series called "Crosswalk the Musical".  Each clip goes for 5 to 10 minutes and he and his cast perform songs from various musicals, but they do it on pedestrian crossings in busy city intersections whilst the traffic lights are red and the traffic is stopped.  Les Miserable was performed at a crossing in Paris, Mary Poppins in London and so on.  He also has some guest stars including Hugh Jackman (who he insists on calling Huge Jackman), Ben Kingsley and Andrew Lloyd Webber.  It is very clever and very funny.  Make sure that you have a look at the New York one with Hugh Jackman.

Have a look at the link below and I am sure that you will get the idea.

Today's figures are looking better for Victoria and dare I suggest it might now be a bit of a pattern.  Victoria reported 279 new infections for the last 24 hours, this gives us four consecutive days in a row of less than 400 infections.  Unfortunately the number of deaths was up again at 16 for the twenty four hours resulting in a total of 309 deaths for the state.  We have 662 in hospital which has been reasonably stable for the last five days or so.  Forty Victorians are in intensive care and 29 are on ventilators.

The world figures are bouncing around a bit but I think that is more as a result in irregularities in gathering information than anything else.  Still reporting 260,000 plus new infections daily and averaging 5,000 to 6,000 deaths daily.  No good news here.

And now the State of Disaster remembers;

Remember: to stay indoors between 8.00pm and 5.00am, stay safe & stay strong, respect the 5km limits, don't try & get a haircut, drink your coffee at home, don't dither at the supermarket checkout, don't get Jim's Mowing in to cut your grass, get some virus approved exercise, shop at Harvey Norman for good service, be honest, if in doubt wear a mask and a face shield, remember the fallen, get plenty of sleep and be kind.

  1. Keep up the good work but forget about the “sun/son” jokes.
