Blog Day 213 - Monday 26 October 2020

Although Victoria recorded zero new infections in the last 24 hours including the backlog of testing results from over the weekend the premier has advised that he will not make any announcements until this afternoon when further testing results are available.  We have been told that the premier will be holding his media conference after 3.15pm this afternoon.  Usually the later the media conference the worse the news.  Surely given the nil new infections and the 14 day rolling average for the state under 4 there can't be any bad news today.

Talking about bad news, no haircut as yet, still a queue of scruffy blokes outside the barber shop and at least one scruffy bloke, me, walking past.

The premier has announced that from 11.59pm Tuesday night (27/10) hospitality venues will be able to open subject to 20 patrons indoors and 50 outdoors and subject to social distancing requirements.  All retail will be allowed to open including personal services and tattoo parlours.  Outdoor gatherings with a maximum of 10 people will be allowed with attendance by people from more than two households.

The 25km travel limit and the ring of steel separating metropolitan and regional Victoria remains until 11.59pm 8/11.

Masks still to be worn outdoors.

Further details and information will be made available by DHHS tomorrow.

It appears to be good news with no new infections reported in Victoria in the last 24 hours, and no new deaths.  I think that the last time we reported 0 new infections in a day was sometime in early July.  Victoria still has only 7 patients in hospital due to the virus and none in ICU or an a ventilator.

Rolling 14 Day Average:

25/10: Metropolitan 4.6, Regional .2, Total 4.8
26/10: Metropolitan 3.6, Regional .2, Total 3.8

Worldwide 399,000 new infections reported in the last 24 hours and 4,100 deaths.  These figures are down a bit but that is usual on a Monday as part of the weekly cycle so I wouldn't read too much into it.

And now the stage 4 lockdown 3rd step restrictions remembers;

Remember: we still can't walk into a bar and get a beer; no matter how hard we try sometimes the figures just don't add up; if you are subpoenaed to produce documents to produce all of them!; to gamble responsibly; don't take your eyes off the ball.
