Blog Day 148 - Monday 30 November 2020 You may recall that I mentioned on Friday that I was attending a Thanksgiving day lunch on Saturday.  It was a most enjoyable day with good company and lots to eat and drink, including the traditional thanksgiving turkey with all the fixins, including key lime pie and pumpkin pie.  Still not sure about pumpkin pie but I had my share and the key lime pie was delicious. As I had partaken of strong drink, although in moderation, I caught a couple of Ubers for transport, the first time I been in an Uber or taxi since March this year.   And to top it all off I had thanksgiving lunch leftovers for dinner last night. Isn't there a lot to be thankful for. A couple of blips on the virus radar today.  The poo inspectors have discovered traces of the virus in sewage in the North Geelong and Corio area and are recommending anybody who was in that area between certain dates and shows any symptoms of the virus to get tested immedi...
Blog Day145  - Friday 27 November 2020 Well, it really is a virus free Friday today as Victoria has reported its 28th day of double zero's, no new cases and no deaths.  We also have no active cases in the community and nobody in hospital due to the virus.  This outcome is from the results of nearly 10,000 tests in Victoria in the last 24 hours. As the epidemiologists tell us this signals elimination but not eradication.  They also tell us that our greatest risk now is introduction of the virus back into the community by overseas travellers. Tennis Australia is still pushing for the Australian Open to go ahead in January or early February.  I still think that this is a major risk.  I have this image of some baggy arse 20 year old Uber delivery drive/security guard from the sub-continent trying to tell one of the Williams sisters or their entourages where they can and can't go.  How would that go? There is also a bit of a lesson in what is happeni...
Blog Day 144 - Thursday 26 November 2020 Day 27: Zero - Zero Day 3 : Zero - Zero - Zero Twenty eight days of zero - zero = eradication of the virus in the community (for the time being). When Victoria achieved zero new cases, zero active cases and zero deaths on Tuesday it was the first time that milestone had been reached since February 29. Australia wide there was one new case reported in the last 24 hours and that was in SA and wasn't a returned traveller, investigations are under way to track the source.  Victoria received the results of 12,900 tests in the last 24 hours, NSW 14,900 and Qld 5,216.  There are currently 85 active cases in Australia, 56 of those are returned overseas travellers. Worldwide the infection figures and death figures continue to rise.  In the last week there were 4,157,000 new infections an increase from 4,126,000 the week before.  Total infections to date worldwide are 56,544,000.  There were 72,000 deaths worldwide for the week an ...
