Blog Day 148 - Monday 30 November 2020

You may recall that I mentioned on Friday that I was attending a Thanksgiving day lunch on Saturday.  It was a most enjoyable day with good company and lots to eat and drink, including the traditional thanksgiving turkey with all the fixins, including key lime pie and pumpkin pie.  Still not sure about pumpkin pie but I had my share and the key lime pie was delicious.

As I had partaken of strong drink, although in moderation, I caught a couple of Ubers for transport, the first time I been in an Uber or taxi since March this year.

And to top it all off I had thanksgiving lunch leftovers for dinner last night. Isn't there a lot to be thankful for.

A couple of blips on the virus radar today.  The poo inspectors have discovered traces of the virus in sewage in the North Geelong and Corio area and are recommending anybody who was in that area between certain dates and shows any symptoms of the virus to get tested immediately.  There is some concern over this but currently no panic.  The most likely reason for the poo positive test is somebody who has recovered from the virus but is still shedding (shedding as well as shitting, so to speak).

Victoria has recorded a virus related death.  A woman in her 70's had been diagnosed with the virus in July and then treated as recovered.  Apparently she has died of virus related damage to her lungs.  The matter has been referred to the coroner for confirmation of cause of death but as this stage it is being included in the virus death numbers.

Victoria has continued its run of daily zero new infections.  The only new infections in the last 24 hours was 9 returned overseas travellers in NSW.

The number of test results were down over the weekend with only 5,000 in Victoria and a bit over 6,000 in NSW. This is our usual weekend pattern and on previous experience we should see an increase in the testing numbers through the week.

There are currently 68 active cases Australia wide with 46 of those being infected returned travellers.  Victoria is still recording zero active cases.

Worldwide, there were 484,000 new infections reported in the last 24 hours taking the worldwide number of infections due to the virus to over 63,000,000.  There were just over 6,500 deaths reported for the last 24 hours.

A couple of the European countries, including Britain are talking about starting vaccinations within a few weeks, possibly in December.

And now the Towards Covid Normal remembers;

Remember: Wear your mask when you are buying your Bunnings sausage; no holidays in Britain for a while yet; be careful planning your computer upgrades (my most recent upgrade cost me $1,400); somebody is probably checking your poo.
