Blog Day 338 - Monday 01 February 2021

It doesn't look like this corona virus thing has done the property market any harm.  Last weekend saw the highest number of properties auctioned since before the pandemic hit.  In Bentleigh East there were nine properties listed for sale over the weekend of which six sold at auction, one sold prior to auction and 2 were passed in.

The cheapest priced property that sold in Bentleigh East over the weekend was $1.065m and the most expensive was $1.96m.  Fancy paying nearly $2m for a property and ending up with me as your neighbour.

I have applied to do some work for the ABS in the upcoming census and you should see the rigmarole I have to go through as part of the application.  This morning I had to do a series of online tests and as a result of these tests they say that  "the ability to find solutions to problems, work with numbers (handy for an accountant) and think quickly under pressure are strengths of mine".  Pretty good eh?

One of the tests I had to do was look at some 30 or so ink blots and say what they looked like.  Why on earth would they have 30 ink blots that looked like naked women????

And still this virus thing rolls along.  I went for a walk this morning and popped on my mask to go into the supermarket and walked home, it was only when I was walking up the driveway at home I realised that I still had my mask on, it has become very much second nature.

My internet connection has been bouncing in and out all day today and I received a message from my ISP telling me that NBN Corp were doing emergency works in the area, so I will get done what I can with the blog in-between crashes.

Eight new virus infections reported Australia wide in the last 24 hours, all ROTS including 3 in NSW, 2 in Qld, 3 in SA and zero in Vic.  I am not sure if Victoria is taking any ROTs at the moment, can't see anything about it in the various press releases.

So far there has been 33,700 Australians vaccinated, 3,800 in Victoria, 10,300 in NSW and 2,000 in Qld, plus 10,000 in aged care not included in the state figures.  A further 300,000 units of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Australia over the weekend.

There were nearly 7,000 test results received in the last 24 hours in Victoria, 10,700 in NSW and 3,700 in Qld.

Currently there are 71 active cases Australia wide including 61 ROTs.  There are 11 active cases in Victoria including 1 ROT, 38 in NSW all ROTs and 11 in Qld also all ROTs.  It looks like NSW is now counting its ROTs in its total active cases numbers instead of keeping them separate.

Both the worldwide daily infections and deaths are continuing a downward trend in both new infections and deaths with 321,000 new infections and 6,600 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The new daily infections and deaths in the USA & UK are continuing a downward trend.  The US reported 68,000 new deaths in the 24 hours 28/02 and 1,536 deaths for the same period.  The UK reported 7,500 new infections and 291 deaths for the same 24 hour period.
