Blog Day 339 - 02 March 2021

Busy day out and about today.  Attending a short course at U3A a sort if Law for Dummies for the next four weeks.

Actually that's about it, so not so busy after all, but things seem to fill out the available time these days.

It looks like Victoria has recorded four consecutive days with zero new virus infections, but it would appear that we are still not taking any ROTs.

To date Victoria has only vaccinated 5,020 of it's residents. (This is not including Victoria's share of the 13,348 aged and disability care people vaccinated by the Federal government).  NSW has vaccinated 12,400.  In the last 24 hours Victoria vaccinated 1,158 people compared to NSW's 2,085 and to date Victoria has only used something like 30% of its allocation of the vaccine.

Where is the urgency with this in Victoria?

Some of my less astute readers, and probably fanboys of Dan, have occasionally been a little critical of the PM and the Federal government of their handling of some aspects of the pandemic, well my friends, having had a look at the vaccination figures above who is looking a bit silly now.

Has anybody noticed the TV footage of people getting vaccinated, my word that needle seems to go in a long way.

Getting late in the afternoon and you can probably guess what is beckoning, so just a quick update on the local figures.

There were 9 new cases recorded Australia wide in the last 24 hours, zero in Vic, 3 in NSW, 4 in Qld and 2 in Sa, all ROTs.

Australia wide we have vaccinated nearly 42,000 people which is .16% of our population.  For the sake of comparison Israel has vaccinated 94% of it's population, UK 31% and US 23%.

Currently Australia wide there are 72 active cases 63 of which are ROTs.  There are 21 people in hospital Australia wide including one in ICU in NSW.

I do hope that unlike Queensland Victoria is going to the honourable thing and pay our bill for NSW to take our ROTs.  It is obvious that the only way that Victoria can handle this is to not take in any overseas travellers.

Fuller update tomorrow, however note that the worldwide infection and death numbers are continuing the downward trend, likewise for the US and UK, so that is good news.
