Blog Day 402 - 4 May 2021 - Star Wars Day

Safely back in Melbourne and catching up on my chores.

This morning I weighed myself and I was two kilos lighter than when I went away and given the eating and drinking that occurred that is quite amazing.  However I think some of the credit may go to a dodgy piece of chicken I had Sunday evening in Lakes Entrance.

In my drive to and from Broke in the Hunter Valley I travelled 2,620 kilometres and averaged about 6.2 litres per 100k which is better than most equivalent sized hybrid cars will achieve.  So take that global warming.

I took a lot of photos so will post a few each day over the next few days.

Happy campers prior to starting our wine tasting at Tyrrell's.  Tyrrell's is one of the original wineries in the Hunter Valley and is still family owned and run by the 4th or 5th generation.

Wine tasting in Tyrrell's.  The tasting room is in the a room of the original house and is over 100 years old.  We were given lots of facts and figures about the winery, most of which I have forgotten.  This room is not usually available to the public but the fellow who was in charge recognised the calibre of wine aficionado that he was dealing with and gave us special treatment.  As you can see in this photo some are taking it more seriously than others.

This was taken in the "back yard" of the house that we were staying in.  The house was in the middle of the grape vines and the olive trees.  Of an afternoon the kangaroos would come out and dine on the sweet grass around the olive trees.

This was taken at one of the wineries that we visited, not sure which one, but I reckon it would have been a pleasure to go to work each day.

Whilst on my travels I didn't take much notice of what was happening in the corona virus world apart from the fact that Australia is still doing OK and that India is going from disastrous to whatever is worse than that.

I will bring myself up to speed on the world situation over the next few days.

I am eligible to get my first virus vaccination which I will also arrange over the next few days, given the lack of community transmission I don't think that it is particularly urgent but I would rather get it sooner than later.
