Blog Day 437 - Friday 11 June 2021 - Day 15 Lockdown Version 4 (extended - light)
First day out of lockdown version 4 but various restrictions still apply such as wearing masks indoors and outdoors away from home, 25 km travel restrictions apply and limits on visits to private homes.
I see that the freehold of the Boundary Hotel, across the road from me, has been sold recently for $33 million. That's a lot of money for a suburban pub, and not very good one at that. At the moment the hotel is leased to a subsidiary of the Endeavour Group which is part of Woolworths with a lease to 2028.
In another piece of interesting news, the Queensland government has stated that they have caught 5 more Victorians who have entered Qld without the appropriate paperwork. These people are over and above the two infected Victorians that entered the state earlier this week. The Queenslanders have threatened anybody entering the state from Victoria without an exemption could be subject to a fine of $4,000. I wonder how many people actually get fined and how many actually pay them.
Talking about Queensland, me ol mate Flashy in FNQ recently got his virus jab and he was given the choice of the AstraZeneca or the Pfizer needle. He chose the Pfizer and can have his 2nd needle in 2 weeks instead of 3 months for the AZ. Lucky FNQers.
Although some lockdown restrictions have been eased the AFL footy this weekend in Victoria will be played in empty stadiums with no enthusiastic supporters allowed in.
The same lockdown restrictions apply to the Shrine and that is currently closed with no reopening date announced at the moment.
Victoria has reported zero local infections in the last 24 hours, the first time we have recorded zero in a 24 hour period since this latest round of outbreaks started. This outcome was as a result of 17,600 test results received in the last 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours 24,400 doses of the virus vaccine were administered state wide in Victoria.
Worldwide, India's daily infection and death rates continue to decline, they really seem to have this under control. Brazil's figures continue to climb, maybe they should send somebody to India and see what they are doing.
The UK figures continue to rise from a daily new infection rate of 4,000 a week ago to over 7,000 in the last 24 hours. The daily death rate in the UK is low at 6 in the last 24 hours but if the infection rate continues to climb the death rate is sure to follow.
Worldwide the daily new infection rates and death rates continue to decline.
