Blog day 623 - Thursday 23 December 2021 - Day 54 of Covid Nearly Normal
As I am about to take a few days of well earned R & R this will be last blog before Christmas. So today I am not talking about the virus notwithstanding some important events are happening.
I have been out and about a bit over the last few days and I understand that the lack of regular blog entries would be disappointing to you my regular readers. Hopefully once we get the silly season out of the way blog entries will get back to normal.
I received a bit of good news yesterday. We have been advised that volunteering at the Shrine will return to normal from Monday 10th January 2022 (as things stand at the moment anyway). From that day we will return to our normal shift which for me means Thursday afternoons. Prior to that I have reinduction and orientation session to attend, where we will be advised any covid requirements and bought up to date on changes to the exhibition galleries made during in our absence.
Of course schools won't be returning to the Shrine until sometime around the end of January so that will give us a bit of time to settle in before we are doing school tours again. The ed staff have told us to expect a busy time with school tours as apparently lots of tour bookings have been made already, sounds like fun.
Hopefully this all means that my U3A sessions the the Military History and Heritage Vic sessions will be presented face to face in the new year. Not disparaging the Zoom sessions we had with all of these organisations as they have been a life saver, but it will be great to be back to face to face again.
That's all I have time for today, so merry christmas to my dear and gentle readers and lets hope that the new year is not a repeat of this year and and as Tiny Tim (the Charles Dickens character and not the strange singer) said "god bless us everyone", and that is coming from an atheist. Cheers and take care.
PS - I would normally say be careful and not eat and drink to much but knowing some of my readers I realise that admonishment would be wasted - so eat, drink and be merry!
Way things are looking here I may have to ask you for suggestions for what would be best for my emergency rations cupboard.
